Los Nietos Golf Society held the annual Henry Wilce Memorial Trophy at La Roda this year.
Once again there was a very healthy turnout of 36 players with two new members joining us on their debut game with our society. As normal at this time of year, the day started with the decision – shorts or no shorts!! Those who chose shorts made the right choice!
The day was an individual Stableford format with prizes for Nearest the Pin on par threes and Longest Drives together with an Overall Winner. Captain Tim introduced an additional format to include those with handicaps ranging from 25 to 36.
(Pictured – Peter Eades teeing off on the 14th at Roda and no the ball didn’t go in the water!!)
Tony Hayman (h/c 25-36) won both prizes available – Nearest the Pin on hole 13 and the Longest Drive on hole 16.
Mick Springer, playing off 8 (h/c 1-24), won Nearest the Pin on hole 7.
Trevor Beechey receiving his prizes from Tim for (h/c 1-24) Nearest the Pin on hole 2 and the Longest Drive on hole eight. He was also Runner-Up with an excellent score of 36.
Pipping him with a magnificent 39 points and playing off 14 was our new member Matt Ingledow. Mrs Janet Wilce very kindly joined us to make the presentation to the winner who gets to keep the Henry Wilce Trophy until next year.
Our pre-Christmas game will be at La Torre and no doubt will feature some more surprises from Captain Tim.
Have an enjoyable festive season.
