Tuesday, 5th December and 37 Los Amigos boys were playing on Camposol in bright, sunny conditions with temperatures barely above freezing. All but one of us was wearing our society shirts however; it being that time of the year, Santa Claus arrived wearing his full regalia. This introduced a good portion of amusement to the proceedings. Unfortunately, sometime later, there was a bit of a wardrobe malfunction and poor old Santa had to tread carefully as he made his way around the course. It is believed the malfunction was due to an overloaded sack?!
Our competition for the day was scheduled as a Singles Stableford. Camposol is a course of two halves, with the front nine considered to be so much easier than the back nine and this was reflected in the scoring achieved by many of our members. However, the course is generally in very good condition with constant attention being applied to improvement.
Post-game, the 19th hole came into play with various types of liquid sustenance and numerous helpings of hot tapas, all of which was eagerly consumed.
Winner of Division 1 with 32 points – Neil Macfarlane
Winner of Division 2 with 30 points – Dave Davidson
Winner of Division 3 with 25 points – Ron Johnston
The Nearest the Pin trophies:
Hole no 3 – Alan Benton.
Hole no 11 – Mike Joseph.
Hole no 13 – Keith Collins.
Hole no 5 – The green said, “If I went away, would you still miss me?”
Our usual Presentation Evening was held in the restaurant of the Camposol Club de Golf and we would like to say a big thank you to all the staff for all their help during the past year. Not only was it the last presentation of the year, but it was also the last event for Bob Rowe as Society Captain. Bob thanked everyone for their support during his Captaincy.
Les Dryden is our Captain for 2018 and we would like to take this opportunity of wishing him well in all his endeavours.
