Monday 8th January and a cold start saw thirty two keen Los Amigos golfers playing at Saurines. After an hour or so the weather turned really warm with head gear and jumpers coming off. The competition was a Pinehurst Stableford with all players scoring.
The first four ball with ten minutes to go were a man short. David Davidson was a little lost on the wrong course somewhere up near Valencia, but after a quick reshuffle he was put further down the order. Another incident saw our Secretary hit his second shot to the green (I can’t hit it that far) and nearly decapitated our Vice Captain who was putting out, in the group in front.
Tee to green wasn’t too difficult, but the greens were fast and a lot of three putts were needed and in some cases four putts. The course was in great condition, but needed skill to keep on the fairway.
With one team looking like clear winners with 119 points until Ex. Capt. Bob Rowe, Jim McCormack, Arthur Anthoney and Geoff Nastri came in with 124 points to snatch victory.
