Tuesday, 6th November was a lucky day for the Los Amigos Golf Society members. We usually hold our monthly competitions on a Monday, but on this occasion, it had to be delayed by a day. This meant we missed all the cold miserable Monday conditions and enjoyed a good day’s golf in sunny, dry and perfect golfing weather.
Quite often we have a 50-60 minutes drive before reaching our competition venue, but for this occasion we only had the short trip over to Condado de Alhama.
It was a very well supported event with 44 members signed up. Unfortunately one person had to withdraw at the eleventh hour, but the remaining 43 had a most enjoyable day. The format was a 3-2-1 team event played on a quite challenging course, especially, the PAR threes. Moreover, the course was very busy with groups going out before and after us, so maintaining good timing throughout the round was paramount. Yes, there were occasions when a couple of groups might have been a little more expeditious, but the overall result was that we kept to schedule.
One particular PAR three (hole 11), was quite problematic. I believe only one member, Geoff Ewins, managed to get his ball on the green. However, after landing, it then proceeded to roll off and come to a stop six inches off the green. Result: no Nearest the Pin prize!
1st with 76 points – Geoff Ewins, Chris Jowett, Dave Lynch, Dave Davidson.
2nd with 69 Points – Glenn Read, Paul Davis, John Dawson, Allen Evans.
Nearest the Pin:
Hole 3 – Brian Tape
Hole 7 – Marshall Shields
Hole 11 – Geoff Ewins, on & off
Hole 17 – Glenn Read
Our Presentation Evening was held on Wednesday, 7th November in the restaurant of Camposol Club de Golf. 65 members and their ladies attended and enjoyed an excellent supper meal of Chilli con Carne and Chicken & Mushroom Pie. I think it is safe to say, the meal was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Our grateful thanks to all The Club House staff.
