Mazarrón FC had a slight wobble at the end of October when only two points were gained from three games. This saw them drop from the top of the table to 4th at the end of October, but they were still just two points off the lead.
They suffered their first defeat in extraordinary fashion when they were thrashed 7-1 away to CD Algar. Algar had scored only seven goals in their previous seven games and Mazarrón were unbeaten at the time. Mazarrón were without two players through suspension, (Alfonso Canovas and Andreo who both received four match bans after being sent off in the home game against AD Alquerias) and were also without their injured captain Adrian Campoy and Jose Antonio, but this was no excuse for a totally inept performance.
The following week Mazarrón returned to form and only a last minute equaliser robbed them of a win against local neighbours and promotion rivals EF Alhama. Two successive victories followed, 1-0 away at Alcantarilla and 4-2 at home to CF Molina and by mid-November Mazarrón were back in an automatic promotion spot in 2nd place and just one point behind the league leaders CAP Ciudad de Murcia.
Mazarrón were the highest scorers in the league at this stage and their striker Basi was the leading scorer in the league with fourteen goals from eleven games. In the long term absence of the injured Adrian Campoy the defence has been strengthened by the signing of central defender Nacho from Jumilla and the return of former captain Juan Andreo. Juan had announced his retirement at the end of last season and was working as First Team coach alongside Manager Paco Pliego, but he returned to the team as substitute at Alcantarilla and played the whole game in the victory against CF Molina.
