The Mazarrón City Council is very aware that ‘International Women’s Day’ is an opportunity to claim equality between women and men and that is why a series of activities have been scheduled through the Department of Equality that continue this month of March.

Onn Tuesday the 10th a children’s storyteller entitled “Counting stars for Equality” was held in the libraries of Puerto de Mazarrón and Mazarrón followed by the adult storyteller “Con voz de Mujer”.

Next Saturday, March 14, an event is scheduled in the Assembly Hall of the Cultural Centre at 7p.m., where the children’s theatrical representation for Equality will take place “The new adventures of the little rat”, by the company ‘Seven Comedians’ and with a main objective: to familiarize the little ones with respect for Equality, since the basis of it is education.

Finally, to end this programme, the theatre performance will be held on March 28, in charge of the mentioned company, “We all have the same story.” It will be from 7pm in the Assembly Hall of the Cultural Centre.

The activities on the occasion of the ‘Women’s Month’ began this past Monday, March 2 with the screening of the film, and subsequent talk, “Father there is only one” that was held at the Day Centre, as well as a self-esteem workshop organized by the Mazarrón Fibromyalgia Association (AFIBROMAZ).

On the other hand, last Thursday, March 5, the book “Lucía: la Romi Lorquina” by Luis Caparrós Mirón was presented. Likewise, on Friday the 6th it was possible to enjoy the conference “Women in history” by the journalist María José Cárceles and the opening of the exhibition “Writers” of the Regional Archive, which came thanks to the collaboration of the Department of Archives and Libraries and which can be enjoyed until March 18 in the exhibition hall of the “Casa de Cultura”.

Last Sunday a hike to the Rambla del Cañar was held on the occasion of 8-M, ‘International Women’s Day’, organized by the ‘Friends of Nature’ Hiking Club with the support of the Mazarrón City Council . And also the same day, as the central act of this celebration, the appointment of María Concepción Ruiz Martínez as “Woman Mazarronera 2020” was held.
