The Municipal Cemetery of Mazarrón will be visited by several researchers from several countries participating in the II International Symposium ‘The Cemetery as a place of European memory’ organized by the University of Murcia (UMU)

The visit is scheduled for Saturday, March 7 at 3pm, as a closing to a 2 day programme that will try to tie ends on “what unites us and where we come from” addressing “that common history from which we must learn,” explains Klaus Schriewer, Professor of Anthropology at the UMU

The lectures will take place at the Museum of the University of Murcia, located at the Artillery Barracks, on Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7 from 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. In the afternoon, visits will be made to the cemeteries of ‘Our Father Jesus’ of Murcia and Mazarrón, Friday and Saturday respectively.

The tour of the Mazarrón cemetery will be carried out by the Mazarron journalist Miguel Rubio, author of a guide on the history and heritage that the Mazarron cemetery has preserved since it was inaugurated in 1900. Rubio has previously conducted guided tours of the place , organized by the Department of Culture on the occasion of the feast of All Saints who obtained a great success of participation
