I write this article knowing that by the time you read it, it will be 2018. It’s unbelievable how quickly the year has flown by, but 2017 was a wonderfully fulfilling year for the Harlequin Rock Choir with more performances than ever, including some in new locations.

The most satisfying of all is the amount of money we have helped raise throughout the year; over 3,300€ in total, ending with 600€ for the Leo’s playground at our concert on 19th October and a princely sum of 747€ for Age Concern and Forget Me Not at our event in Mariano’s at the end of November. At our surprise ‘flash’ concert on 7th December on Camposol A, JJ Puppies and the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal shared a total of 162€ collected from our generous audience.

When we start again in the New Year we will be revising songs from our large and varied repertoire and perhaps learning new ones. We will be delighting in the joy of singing in a choir, an activity which has been proven to be good for your health and your soul. Why not come and join us, even if you don’t spend all of your time in Spain? At one of our events I was approached by a lady who belongs to a Rock Choir in the UK and she is going to be spending 6 months of the year here and wants to carry on singing in a choir, so she will join us. We already have members who only spend some of their time in Spain and they enjoy coming back to our choir each time.

We’ve already been asked to perform at events in 2018, so look out for our publicity on Facebook, in the Costa Cálida Chronicle and on posters dotted around as well as on the radio.  We hope to see you at many of our performances where we will be raising more money for charities.

The members of the Harlequin Rock Choir would like to wish you all a Happy New Year and we thank all who supported us in 2017 and look forward to seeing you in 2018.
