The Fuente Old Guard event for October was held at the  Hacienda  Del Alamo Golf Resort on 19th and it was fingers crossed on the preceding day as we received our first heavy rains of this autumn, but on the day, luck was with us and our golf day, held in memory of Gerry Clarke and sponsored by  Graeme and Amanda of Avalon  Europe went ahead in full sunshine.

Following the game, our competitors and their guests enjoyed a fish and chip lunch and watched the presentations.

Ron Smart with Jean Clarke and the Rosebowl

The Overall Winner this year was Ron Smart with 36 points and it was fitting that Ron should become the latest member to have his name inscribed on the memorial rosebowl.

Ron’s score also gave him top spot in Division Two with Allen Evans a close second in this division with 34 points.

Roy Quigley with President Jim Kinniburgh and Amanda

Division Three Winner Pete Smith

Meanwhile, in Division One, Roy Quigley was ahead of the rest with 34 points, closely followed by Gerry McRobert with 33 points.

In Division Three, the top prize was won by Pete Smith with 31 points, just ahead of Gavin Elbourne with his 28 points score.
