This time of year the days are shorter and the mornings and evenings are getting quite a bit cooler. CST/FAST Supporters and Responders were out and about selling raffle tickets for the Christmas Fayre. A report on the Fayre and some photos will be in the next edition.
Mandy and Gill are running day trips to popular destinations. You can find them outside TJ Electricals, Camposol B most Friday mornings.
FAST Responders have been on duty most days and some nights over weekends. With the new Responders we will be covering even more days and nights during the coming months. Our new Responders, who are all now qualified First Responders, are enjoying their new role, giving their time to the people of Camposol.
Five of our more experienced Responders have just completed a FREC Level 3 course that will enable them to respond solo. They are highly skilled in life support and emergency care. The course was run by the FAST President and Head Trainer, Barry (Baz) Hamilton. The course is recognised by the European Resuscitation Council.
As reported last month, we were waiting for an appointment with the Director of Emergency Services in the Mazarrón area. This meeting took place on 9th November at the Mazarrón Police department. Our President and our legal representative met with the Director and his legal representative. It was explained that we wanted to be included in the system of emergency services in this area. We are, after all, a group of foreigners providing an emergency service in his country. After the meeting the Director gave FAST his endorsement. This is a great step forward for FAST on Camposol. We will supply the Directors office with all certificates of competence, our Constitution and charity status. Further meetings are planned.
In October there were 11 calls to FAST with 5 ambulances called.
The CST/FAST Nurses have been out shaking their buckets on a Monday morning, getting a bit chilly with the short skirt though! The pretty ones have competition as we have been joined by a gorgeous nurse who drives a convertible! Thank you to all those who donate, wave and give us sweets.
A copy of the CST accounts is available on PYM Facebook page.
A beginner training course is being planned for early next year. If you are interested in joining FAST as a Responder or CST as a Supporter then please get in touch.
If you have a few spare hours and wish to meet like minded people why not join CST/FAST. We meet for training every Tuesday at 10am at the Cultural Centre, Camposol B. You will be made most welcome.
If members of the public would like to learn basic first aid, but do not want to join FAST they should let a CST/FAST member aware as we will run a public first aid course if we get enough response.
