FAST2016 have had a very busy time over the last few weeks, responding to emergency calls on Camposol 24 hours a day. We are still looking for more Responders to help with this great organisation.

Our theme tune could be the Bee Gees classic “Staying Alive”. This song can be heard at the training sessions on Tuesday mornings at Camposol Cultural Centre as we practice CPR.

fast Fayre DSC04101

One of the high points in the year is the FAST2016 Christmas Fayre
Probably the best Christmas Fayre in Murcia.

On Saturday 29th October FAST2016 held their famous Christmas Fayre at Mariano’s, Camposol A. The fayre opened at 11am, but the FAST2016 team were in action on Friday evening and early Saturday morning preparing. This fayre is a great opportunity for FAST2016 to raise much needed funds to allow us to provide this service to the great people of Camposol. Again the cakes and savouries were a great attraction with at least 3 traders selling them. A total of more than 40 traders attended the fayre and more than 400 people came through the door to shop, browse and eat the cakes and sausage rolls. Stalls ranged from jewellery to cards and glass engraving to eyebrow designs.

The Tombola table was a great attraction to the visitors where they had a chance to win bottles of wine etc. for €1. More than 400 prizes were up for grabs. This will be the last tombola run by Rosemary of the Welcome Group as she is returning to the UK. Rosemary was presented with a bouquet of flowers by the FAST2016 President Christine Christophers.

fast Christine, Glenn and MandyThe grand draw was held at 2.30pm with over 2,500 tickets sold. First prize was a €450 travel voucher donated by Mercers, second prize was a €200 voucher to spend in TJ Electricals and third prize was a hamper donated by Currencies Direct. Music and announcements were supplied by the big Welshman, Carl Thomas.

Next year’s Spring Fayre has already been booked at Mariano’s.

The FAST2016 team met for a social evening on 10th November at Camposol Golf Club. It is nice to meet other responders in a social atmosphere as we often meet in the middle of the night when there is an emergency call.

The FAST2016 team is a very friendly group of individuals who give their time freely to help the residents and visitors to Camposol. Training for all Responders takes place Tuesday mornings at Camposol Cultural Centre. Training is always a mixture of instruction and practical with the aim of keeping Responders up to date with any new techniques. If you would like to join this team come along and see what we do.
