In A Medical Emergency Call 112 Then Call FAST on 968 970 626

CST/FAST is a fully registered and insured charity whose sole purpose is to serve the emergency medical needs of everyone who lives or visits Camposol or Saladillo.

If you live on Mazarrón Country Club or Condado de Alhama, you can call the emergency number for advice over the phone. Unfortunately FAST cannot attend.

FAST is recognised by the British Consulate and the British Embassy in Madrid and the Murcian Health Authority for the work they carry out on Camposol. All responders and instructors are volunteers who give their time freely.

If you have to call for an ambulance, call 112 and the operator will ask a series of questions so they can prioritise your call. You can ask for an operator to speak in your language if you do not speak Spanish. Then call FAST on 968 970 626

FAST aims to provide a 24 hour service, but due to lack of Responders availability they have had to reduce the service at times. There is a message to listen to when there is no Responder available.

FAST has trained new solo Responders to Level 4. There are now 8 solo Responders and we have also trained 2 new instructors. At the scene of our reconstruction incident at the rear of the Social Centre where the Level 4 Responders were being assessed, a painter working on a local villa came to offer shade with a large umbrella. He was surprised when he realised it was not a real casualty! It just shows what great people we have on Camposol. We would like to thank the man for his actions.

Sadly it seems a growing trend to abuse the emergency services when reacting to an emergency. FAST has experienced several occasions where our Responders have been verbally abused. We will not tolerate harassment or verbal abuse. If presented with this situation we will have no option but to call for Police assistance so that we can provide the emergency treatment.

In August FAST was called out 13 times resulting in 6 ambulances attending.

Why not join our team of Responders?

Shifts can be 6/12/24 hours to suit the individual.  There is no need to have previous knowledge of first aid as all training will be provided free of charge. Once trained you will become a First Responder, which is a higher skill level than a First Aider. Our training sessions are Tuesday mornings at the Social Centre, Camposol B.

When FAST Responders arrive, they will ask a series of questions, directed at the casualty or the partner. It may seem to delay treatment, but it is important to know if the casualty is allergic to anything, what medication they are on, are they being treated for a medical condition. So please be patient when the responder is asking questions.

A message from one of our new Responders:

Andy and I have met so many friends since joining.  We didn’t know anyone when we moved over in November and now have a great social life as a result of being a part ofFAST.  It’s not all about what you can do for FAST,but also what FAST can do for you.

The local council issued a RED alert warning for this area for the recent gota fria. During the storm on 12th & 13th September FAST was asked to provide extra cover overnight, which they did.

All donations and fund raising enables FAST to provide this unique service for residents of and visitors to Camposol. We recently received a €500 donation from Steve Marriott who is well known on Camposol. We would like to thank him for his generosity.
