In A Medical Emergency Call 112 Then Call FAST on 968 970 626

CST/FAST is a fully registered and insured charity whose sole purpose is to serve the emergency medical needs of everyone who lives at or visits Camposol.

FAST has been recognised by the British Consulate and the British Embassy in Madrid for the work they carry out. All responders and instructors are volunteers who give their time for the people of Camposol.

If you have to call for an ambulance, call 112 and the operator will ask a series of questions so they make your call the correct priority. You can ask for an operator to speak in your language if you do not speak Spanish. Then call FAST on 968 970 626

FAST was called out 21 times in May, with 16 ambulances required.

You can call any time day or night, as FAST aims to give 24/7 cover. At times they have to suspend the service due to the lack of responders’ availability, but there is a recorded message that will give you information.

Why not join our team of Responders and Supporters?
The shifts that are covered can be 6/12/24 hours to suit the individual. There is no need to have previous knowledge of First Aid as all training will be provided free of charge. Supporters are free to help where and when they can, so if you have any spare time and want to help your community just call FAST on 634 308 362 or email or come along to our training sessions every Tuesday morning at The Social Centre on Camposol B.

This was held in aid of FAST on June 1st. The event was organised by Dorothy Baillie and her efforts together with the players and spectators raised €385. We would like to thank Alix in Alley Palais for her continued support. The winner of the Darts Tournament is Sean Marshall.
The Black Bull had a Pool Evening and raised €35 for FAST. Thanks to Aaron and his team.

The Camposol Golf Association donated €650 to FAST as a result of the Quiz Nights held during the year.

FAST would like to thank all the businesses on Camposol for their support. Collection tins are in most premises. All the donations and fund raising enable the whole team to provide this unique service for the people of Camposol.

FAST Autumn Ball

This will be held at the Amapola Restaurant, Bolneuvo on 14th September. Tickets are €30 each with €5 extra if you want coach transport. Rooms are available also for those wishing to stay the night. More on our web page.

Don’t forget the famous FAST Nurses and Doctors. They are out shaking their buckets on Mondays. Give them a wave and your spare cash. They are always extremely grateful.

Now and again I will add an information piece. Here is one written by our lead trainer Patrick:
Sepsis is a condition which kills approximately 44,000 people per year in the UK. This is more than Bowel, Breast and Prostate Cancer combined, but still many people have no idea what it is or how to recognise it.

Sepsis is the body’s reaction to infection x 1,000! The natural immune system goes into overdrive and begins to attack the body itself. Left untreated it can lead to multiple organ failure, amputations and even death. Sepsis can develop from almost any infection including UTIs (Urinary Tract Infections), bites, cuts, stings and chest infections to name a few.

What to look out for

Slurred speech and confusion, extreme shaking and painful muscles, passing no urine in a day, severe breathlessness, feeling very unwell, skin mottled or discoloured.

If you see any of these symptoms, particularly in someone who has recently had an infection, just ask the question – “Could it be Sepsis?”

FAST are working on Camposol for you.
