The Mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, and the first deputy Mayor, Ginés Campillo, have offered a press conference in which he has sent a message of calm to the municipality, after learning that one of the cases detected by Covid19 in the Region of Murcia belongs to a 62-year-old man residing in Puerto de Mazarrón.

In this situation, the Mayor has urged citizens to remain calm and follow the advice that is being transferred from the health authorities. One of them, that of avoiding crowds of people, for which reason the first Mayor has announced that, in this sense, the meal for the Elders of the San José festivities has been suspended, as it is a risk group; as well as the family lotteries of the Mazarrón and Puerto Senior Centres and the Pensioners Club of Mazarrón. The celebration of the Murcia Cycling Master Championship that was to be held on March 28 and 29 in Mazarrón has also had to be postponed.

For all these reasons, it is recommended that if you have symptoms of fever, cough and / or respiratory difficulties, you should call the emergency telephone number 112. You should not go to the health centre, since 112 will give the appropriate indications. It is also important to wash your hands frequently, avoid touching your nose, mouth, and eyes, stay two metres away from people with symptoms, and use disposable tissues when sneezing.

The Mayor has urged citizens to follow the evolution of the containment phase through the official channels of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Health and Murcia Health, both on their web pages and through their profiles on social networks. In addition, he recalled that an information telephone number has been made available to citizens, which is 900 12 12 12 for those who want more information. The municipal emergency and health services are at all times in contact with regional officials to work together in this phase of containment.
