At Cavalli Foundation we have our team of working horses, horses and ponies that have been with us since we opened as ‘META Riding Centre’ in 2007. Some of them are now retired like Magic and Tango. Others, however, are still doing a grand job helping Cavalli Riding Teachers and Therapists to work with children, young people and the elderly showing them the pleasures of being involved in the equine world.
Tinker, who came to us when he was just 3 years old, has turned into a versatile star at Cavalli. He has just done his first Holy Communion photo shoot! He’s a great photographic model, loves the camera and, apparently, the camera loves him, so now we can add modelling to his bag of tricks!
On the other hand we have rescue animals; dogs, geese, goats, a hen and the horses and ponies that are still in rehab. Some of them will never be normal and healthy due to their past circumstances, but at Cavalli they are happy, well fed and cared for and they are free to make friends and socialise, play and have a romp.
Cavalli Foundation activities bring in money to feed the whole family, pay for vet’s treatment and give grants for Horse Assisted Therapy to small children in the Early Learning Development project.
The latest addition to the gang is George, a small fox terrier that was saved from danger of being run over on the Rm-603 near Casas Nuevas. George is a real character, a favourite with the kids and he loves it here. He was a big hit at Happy Pets on Camposol when he accompanied Mocca for her treatment. Mocca had to have her leg operated on for a second time. At the moment she’s in recovery but it looks as if this time it’s going to be a success.
Our Easter Camp was brilliant – all the children were sorry to go home. However, they are all looking forward and counting the days to our next camp in May.
