Hi everybody! What a shock it was to think that we’re so far into summer! Where do the days go?
At Cavalli Foundation time is spent caring for our animals and having fun. Pony Club kids had a big day at the end of June; an audience with the Mayoress of Alhama to present the manifest and the petition they had prepared explaining their project: Stop Animal Cruelty/No al Maltrato Animal, not to mention the hundreds of signatures they had collected. Tyler Peacock made a poster, which the Mayoress particularly liked so much so that she promised to put it up in the Town Hall. The children have decided that their next campaign will be to have circuses that use live animals in their shows prohibited from setting up in the Region of Murcia. There’s no stopping them now!
As a special treat Cavalli Foundation team took a group of the kids from the first Summer Camp on an excursion to Aquapark at Terra Natura followed by a visit to the zoo and a burger supper before coming back to camp. Needless to say they had a wonderful time and plenty of telling comments to make on the wellbeing of the zoo animals; for example a pond too small for one hippo, let alone three!
Donkeys, Lucero and Sol, are enjoying meeting the children who visit us during the summer to ride and take part in our other activities. They are such cheeky, playful boys who can’t bear to be left out of whatever is going on. They made special friends with Lois and Livvy on holiday here from Hong Kong.
Before signing off we must give a big ‘Thank You’ to the Chronicle’s own Patti and her husband Bob, who came to take four of our most vulnerable geese – the survivors of the group that was deposited over the garden hedge! We are all very grateful that these geese have gone to a good, caring home, as well as for the generous donation Patti and Bob gave us towards feeding the many mouths that Cavalli Foundation has to fill every day.
