We have had quite a busy summer, but generally in a good way.
First of all, we had an ‘Information Station’ at the Camposol Fiesta on Camposol A on Saturday 25th August. This gave us an opportunity to promote our group to those who may not be on social networking sites. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of people who stopped by to enquire about the group’s activities. It was also interesting to note how many people knew little or nothing of our existence. Hopefully, this type of publicity will increase people’s awareness.
A special thank you to Denise, Carl and Ade for helping out. Next year I must remember to take a gazebo!!!
During the month of August, I am pleased to say that reported crime has been at an all-time low. In fact, there has only been one recorded burglary on Camposol, together with some suspicious activity at the unoccupied Monsora houses. That is a remarkable feat by anyone’s standards. Well done and a big thank you to all the patrollers and rooftop watchers.
On Sunday 9th September, one of our members on Camposol D became aware of some suspicious activity at a neighbour’s house. Their quick thinking and positive action led to a burglary being thwarted and a stolen car being recovered. Well done to everyone involved. Although the offenders made their escape, we now know that the car, a hire car, had been stolen from Orihuela. A great team effort which sends out a clear message to any would be offenders.
Finally, we have now put in place an initiative put forward by one of our coordinators. We have set up a ‘gofundme’ page where people can make donations to our group. This was in response to people asking how they could help us financially. Any monies received will be used to fund the translator service we currently have in place.
By reporting all crimes, Police presence will increase on Camposol. In addition to this, as the darker nights are approaching, we will be looking towards updating some of our equipment in order to assist those that volunteer. Anyone wishing to donate can do so by following the link from one of the Camposol Security Group pages, or going to ‘gofundme’ and searching for Camposol Security Groups. All donations will be very gratefully accepted.
