November Club de Golf Competition

The competition took place on 14th November. With overnight rain reducing the entries from 63 to 42 players, it was great to actually get the competition completed without any rain delays. With the reduced amount of entries and therefore entry fees, the prizes were reduced pro rata with prizes down to 7th place instead of the originally planned 10th place.

That brings to an end my year as Captain. Over the year we’ve had 18 competitions with 13 sponsors. 976 players entered the club competitions with 15 different winners from the 18 competitions and paid out prizes to the value of 4,000€. I would like to thank all the sponsors for their support and thank you to all the members for their participation. All the best to Neil for his year ahead as Captain and good luck to everyone for the competitions in the year ahead.

Ron Moss Trophy

On 17th October the CGA Men’s Wednesday Group played for the competition.  In the early days of Camposol, Ron was the CGA’s President and Captain for some time and the trophy has been played for annually since 2004 when Ron stopped playing due to ill health.  Sadly Ron has passed on, but he has left a wealth of memories and what better way to remember him on this special day than by playing for his trophy.  This year’s winner was Bernard Langley.

Charity Quiz

This was held on 2nd November at The Club House. Ida & Phil Halton were Quiz Masters and as usual they were excellent setting the questions at just the right level.  Over 140 people took part, many of whom took advantage of the optional supper. The Club House staff was well organised and did us proud.  There was a raffle which helped boost the funds and at the end of the night a whopping 1,090. 13€ was raised for our very worthy charities, MABS, FAST and Forget me Not.  The winning team gave back their winnings which also swelled the pot and was much appreciated.  We were very pleased with all the support and we hope you will come along to the next Charity Quiz, probably in March.
