I have been asked to put together a regular column on IT (Information Technology), and I have chosen to start at the beginning, covering basic hints and tips of computing and internet. Another idea for the column is to cover questions that you would like answered, or any tips that you would find helpful therefore, please feel free to E-Mail them to me at theshop@camposol-computers.com. Obviously we can only answer a few every issue but the most popular we receive will be published.
Computers/Internet are fast becoming a necessity in life, especially living in a foreign country where the communication infrastructure is not quite the same as that in the UK. People wanting to keep in touch with family and friends are therefore finding themselves having to use internet café's, and/or purchasing their first computer etc which can be a very daunting task in the beginning. So hopefully this column will cover areas from computers, internet, webcams, VOIP technology, right through to printers, mice and keyboards.
Tip: Many people have asked me how to install a Spanish keyboard onto an English machine, or one with an English operating system. i.e. Windows XP or Windows Vista. This is quite a simple procedure and will help you benefit from the full range of keys.
1. Press the Start on the bottom left hand corner of the screen.
2. Click on the control panel button, this will open a lot of different options.
3. Click on the Regional and Language icon.
4. Click on the tab. You now click on the details button.
5. Press the Add button and keep it on English, but click onto the keyboard layout. Scroll down and click on the Spanish Variation.
6. Click on Apply, then OK and you will be sorted.
