Art Groups in the area of Camposol and surrounding villages are available to support the experienced and inexperienced artists alike.
As an artist do you make enough time to work in your chosen medium or would you benefit from the routine of setting aside 3 hours a week in the company of likeminded individuals? My personal experience is that I paint every week when I attend the art group I belong to, yet don’t necessarily make time to paint when we take our summer break from meeting.
There are two art groups that use the Casa de Cultura in Los Canovas as their meeting place. The building has a large, light and airy room with a café-come-bar in the building and easy parking around the area.
One group meets on Monday mornings from 10.30-1.00pm. This group has been established for 7 years and it is a relaxed and friendly group catering for all standards. In November the Monday Group holds an annual exhibition of their artists’ work. The group is mostly a self-help group holding regular workshops, tutored by group members, with occasional visiting tutors. For more information call Chris on 968199418.
The other group meets on Wednesday mornings. This group was started in response to a need to meet on a day of the week other than a Monday. It functions in a similar way, although it is currently the much smaller and therefore possibly quieter and perhaps the more intimate group of the two. Artists who wish to join the Wednesday group will be made very welcome whatever their chosen medium. If you have an interest in becoming a member of the group, our meetings resume after the summer break on September 15th in the aforementioned building. If transport is a problem, we usually manage to arrange car sharing, so call Steve 679 717171 to enquire about a lift or if you simply need directions. The objective of the Wednesday Art Group is to provide an environment in which artists of all abilities can work and learn from each other in a stress-free and positive atmosphere. If you have particular artistic skills and talents, we may be able to learn from you if you are prepared to help us. We do not have any expenses as a group, therefore there are no fees or dues for attendance, nor is there any obligation attached to trying out the group, so come along and try it for yourself.
We look forward to meeting you. The group works from 10.00-1.00pm each Wednesday, although we usually start with a chat over coffee in the bar to discuss just about anything and break at 11.30 for a coffee. The bar area is the focal point for any non-art related conversations and general socialising. Talking about anything to do with art in the work room is encouraged, so if you are new and concerned about confidence in a crowd of artists, this is the group for you to join as we are committed to learning and helping each other and the advice and help you’ll get is gently delivered!
