We need more volunteers for our Mazarrón Shop. No experience required, just a willingness to work one morning per week (4 hours), help sort, tidy and price donations and keep the shop looking good.

It’s a great way to meet new people, practice your Spanish (though Spanish is not essential) and help support our charity.

Now for a grumble! It’s not aimed at you my lovely supporters but at the system. This is so typical and having to sort it out for 5 donkeys in August was a complete nightmare. Paperwork, heat, opening hours, holidays, why isn’t anything straight forward?

We were informed about 5 donkeys in the Pererra, weeks ago. All we wanted to do was get them out and give them a chance, but oh no, it took 2 weeks to get the first piece of paperwork to get them passported and microchipped! The Pererra opens 11am-3pm during August, so in addition to running 2 shops, looking after in excess of 20 equines and numerous dogs, coping with emergency call outs and vet runs, that window for the Pererra was almost impossible to work with. We eventually got the first piece of paperwork, but we needed another piece of paper for the transportation. Again at the mercy of holidays, lunch breaks and the heat and I was tired and grumpy!! It seemed to take so long, but we now have them in AAR care – 3 males and 2 females.

andreas image2Take a look at our FB page and see the sheer happiness and fun Rubio and Rafael are having. They have been rehomed to Portugal and these boys are so happy. Thank you so much to Jane Durrant for fostering them for 6 months. They look amazing and thank you to Natalie Wright for taking them on. Happy days Rubio and Rafael.

andreas image3Blossom the mule is making good progress too. She was rescued last month having spent 20 years with her owner and was in a very sorry state with, arthritis, laminitus, skin conditions and associated problems. However, with injections, lotions and potions, diet, a comfortable bed and stable and proper TLC this girl is doing well. If anyone would like to help sponsor this dear old girl, it would help us. She really is a darling. Donate via Paypal andreasanimalrescuemurcia@hotmail,com

We said goodbye to India, Zante, Gerry, Freddie and Rubi last month. They have gone as far afield as Scotland, Germany and of course Spain. It’s always hard to say goodbye to the dogs, but I am so happy they have found their forever homes.
We are working very hard towards our goal of 100,000€ for more land with our GoFundMe Appeal. With the additional land we will be able to provide permanent sanctuary to donkeys, mules, ponies and animals that have been mistreated or injured and have to remain with the charity permanently. At the moment we have in excess of 20 equines in permanent care with several more in livery and many more waiting to come in, but, we do not have the space. Please take a look at our page and consider making a donation;

andreas image1I will be on Camposol B car park every Monday 11.30am-1.30pm to collect any unwanted goods. All your donations are very gratefully received. You can also drop off at either of our shops in Roldan or Mazarrón Town.
Thank you, Andrea x
